計算してみると、20歳の若者にとっての国民年金の投資利回りは、男性で年率1.48%、女性で年率2.44%になった（女性の方が利回りが高いのは長生きだからだ）。そうすると、20歳の女性（利回り2.44％）が国民年金に加入するのは得だといえそうだが、男性（利回り1.48％）はどうなのだろうか。年金の支給年齢が70歳に引き上げられてしまうと、この試算では、20歳の男性の総受給額は839万円で、投資利回りは0.13%まで下がってしまう。これでは保険料を貯金箱に入れて、70歳になったら引き出すのとほとんど同じだ。将来の若者がじゅうぶんに合理的なら、811万円を40年間で積み立てて、70歳から839万円を分割で受け取るような、割の悪い投資商品は相手にしないに違いない。

年金の支給開始を70歳に引き上げたとき、「それだと加入すれば損することになる」と言われたら、厚生労働省はどう答えるのだろうか。「年金は助け合いだから、損得なんて口にするのも汚らわしい」とか？
